BEinGRID: Contract for Research Study on US Financial Industry and GRID Technology
BEinGRID was a 4-year projectpresenting 18 business experiments using GRID technology. BEinGRID is the largest integrated project ever funded by the European Commission’s IST 6th Framework Programme. The Consortium, composed by 75 partners from all over Europe running 18 Business experiments, was designed to implement and deploy Grid solutions in industrial key sectors. The central objective of the BEinGRID Integrated Projects was to foster the adoption of Grid technology in European business and society and to catalyze the broad take-up of Grid applications and services throughout the European Union.
ICG performed the following through a subcontracting:
- Carried out a thorough survey and research study on the US financial sector
- Provided an analysis on market structure, different players and various deal flows
- Identified US GRID technology applications and GRID business models
- Identified possible opportunities for GRID related business models
- Analyzed the current supply of grid services
- Identifying existing business cases and best practices
- Carried out a transferability assessment of the US grid best practices in the European market
RESEARCH CASE STUDY 2: Market/Technology Assessment
Analysis of US regulatory “barriers to entry” for a European food technology company
A European cork stopper producer asked us to identify the cork stopper technical parameters imposed by the US regulations. ICG provided the client with the following:
- Identification of the current US regulations
- Detailed list of the US regulations; highlighting differences and benchmarking against the European current laws and standards
- Final report used by the client to approach the US market
RESEARCH CASE STUDY 3: USA Policy Analysis
INNO Learning Platform: Good innovation policy practices in the USA, CANADA, and AUSTRALIA
The objectives of the INNO Learning Platform Project was to animate and promote European transnational cooperation activities, to facilitate the exchange of experiences and trans-national policy learning activities. The themes were specifically focused on good innovation policy practices: Clusters, Services, Gazelles, Internationalization of SMEs, Public-Private Partnerships.
ICG:
- Identified the Good Innovation Policy Practices under the 5 themes, 1 per theme from the USA, 1 per theme from Canada, 1 per theme from Australia, through primary and secondary research
- Completed extensive good policy practice reports providing the description of the policy cases
- Carried out a transferability assessment in order to accurately diagnose the transferability of the best practice to a different region, policy structure or entirely different context with different factors present
INNOVATION CASE STUDY 1: Internationalization
An Internationalization project for a European biotech company
The Internationalization Project aimed to provide the client with technical, marketing and project management services in order to facilitate its penetration in the US market, to ease the establishment of joint collaborations and the realization of common projects with US biotech or Research Organizations. The project objective was to identify a research niche in the US suitable for the client’s entry and the creation of a network between the client and the US biotech world. ICG:
- Assisted the client in writing the grant used to finance the project
- Performed the technological due diligence
- Designed possible business scenarios
- Screened over 260 US biotech
- Identified 3 possible US partners
- Assisted the client in the initial phases of the internationalization process
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT CASE STUDY 1: Event Management
Italian Scientific Event Organization in Boston, MA
A foreign Government Agency wanted to meet with key players from the scientific Boston community in order to discuss the organization of a possible scientific event in Boston. ICG:
- Identified key speakers
- Organized the meetings
- Assisted the client in strategic-decision making for the event organization
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT CASE STUDY 2: Event Participation
Assistance in participation to the Bio-CEO & Investor Conference
A foreign Government Agency asked for ICG’s assistance in preparation to the Bio-CEO & Investor Conference. ICG:
- Created a database of 300 investors potentially interested in meeting the client during the event
- Contacted the investors to verify availability in meeting the client
- Assisted the client during one-to-one meetings
- Completed an extensive report on meeting outcomes
